Tektronix Protects Investment by Giving Broadcasters an Easy Upgrade Path to 4K - Eliminates Need to Purchase Completely New Products

LAS VEGAS - April 7, 2014 - Tektronix, an industry-leading innovator of video quality monitoring solutions, today announced that it will be offering broadcasters attending the 2014 NAB Show a technology demonstration of its 4k-upgraded WFM8300 Waveform Monitor with UHDTV1 (3840x2160) content.

The demonstration, which will take place at booth number N5223, illustrates how Tektronix protects investments by giving customers a direct upgrade path without the need to replace existing products.

During the demonstration, visitors will able to see the upgraded WFM8300 performing a broad range of 4K measurements including four tile displays of waveform, picture, vector, gamut and eye diagram.

The WFM8300 Waveform Monitor uses a high-performance architecture designed from the outset to support the throughput requirements of 4K content.

As underscored by the NAB demonstration, this means that existing users as well as those who are in the process of making infrastructure decisions can avoid the considerable extra expense of having to purchase new waveform monitors when moving to 4K.

"Deploying 4K is a significant step and investment for any organization. Customers who purchase or have already purchased the WFM8300 will be able to add 4K support as a simple upgrade.

By giving its customers a direct upgrade path, Tektronix is reducing both risk and expense," said Eben Jenkins, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "What's more, customers can continue to purchase the equipment they need for their existing requirements, secure in the knowledge that when the time comes to roll out 4K, they can easily upgrade. This level of investment protection is a direct result of Tektronix commitment to staying ahead of the technology curve."
